Port Richey is only 2.7 square miles, so the majority of us who have a Port Richey address don't actually live in PR. I have been hear over a year now and still don't know where the city begins and ends (except for when I see a sign). It's kind of just swallowed up by New Port Richey. Anyway. Lots of people live here. Tons of kids and schools. On the other hand there is nothing to do here as far as attractions go. BUT being as this is Florida you don't have to go far to find things to do. Pasco Co. sits right on top of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties - and serves as the "flight" area for those who are looking for a less populated and inexpensive place to live. If you are considering moving to the area it would helpful to do some exploring first if you don't know somebody who lives here that can guide you. This really is a nice place to live despite all of its issues (just read the NPR comments - they all have a point but are a bit dramatic at times). There are a lot of nice areas to live. Great schools (my wife is a teacher) if you know which ones to pick. Tons of great restaurants. I just wouldn't advise moving to the area sight unseen. That being said, I really love it here. Florida is paradise, and in my opinion the Gulf Coast is the best of the two. A little more "redneck" than the other one (especially here in Pasco), but a lot more natural charm.
